Poetry Thursday: The Fox

I had a hard time with the line inspiration for this week’s work, so I opted out and went with a poem I’ve been working on this week. We were told to write a 2 tercet poem entitled, The Fox, for class and this is what I came up with.

Happy Poetry Thursday.

**Update (1/23/07) – With the help of a genius, I decided to change the title from The Fox – a title given to us – to foXY. What do you think?

foXY

She draped the stoop like
chilled wax. They laugh for
her, busted lip framed

by red gloss, ripe fruit
now exposed, rotting
between lust and legs.

  • Have been reading through your work. Know I’m going to love the book! Thanks for your comment on my site – your line was wonderful!

  • Wow. Each word is very powerful – a vivid and interesting poem.

  • This is a very intense poem, very well done. Thank you for sharing it!

  • And all I want to know now is, how did she get there and who is she? Fantastic imagery. I love the image of her melting down the steps like chilled wax. Legs akimbo? This is just great. You say so much with so few words. Like your pen is filled with extract of ________ instead of ink.

  • I don’t even know how to say how this poem makes me feel. It pulls somewhere a bit, somewhere inside. It captivates me.

  • Pauline~ I do hope you enjoy the book! Please let me know.

    Geegee and fondakowski~ Thank you.

Dennis~ you are the perfect ending word. Thank you. And I could go off on a tangent about all the things I could put in that blank of yours. :)

Twilight~ I like to pull. Some would say a little too much. But thank you for enduring. And for reading.
